A painted parapet or neat tile finish tells us little about the structure below it. Fixing choices follow the sound base, the panel span and the roof owner's waterproofing requirements.
Check what can actually carry the fixing
Loose plaster, cracks, thin sheet edges and existing corroded brackets need attention before they become part of a new installation. A new support frame, if needed, must be separately specified.
Protect the waterproofing plan
Confirm where drilling is permitted and who carries out any associated sealing or roof repair. Keep supports away from drains and avoid treating the waterproof layer itself as an anchoring surface.

At the starting rate, 100 sq ft works out to ₹3,000, including the agreed standard installation. That is an area-based example, not the price of enclosing a 100 sq ft terrace on every side and overhead. Additional panels and structural supports change the total.
Do I need side nets, a top net or both?
It depends on the purpose and the opening. Side panels address a perimeter boundary, while an overhead net addresses the space above. Bird exclusion and ball containment need their own layout checks. We will explain which part each proposed panel is intended to cover.
Is overhead netting a roof I can walk on?
No. Ordinary overhead or bird-exclusion netting is not a walking surface, storage platform or roof covering. Human fall-arrest applications require a separately designed and specified system. Keep people away from open drops and retain suitable structural edge protection.
Can the tank and solar equipment remain accessible?
Yes, access can be planned around the tank, pumps, solar equipment and stair head where the roof permits it. Identify the technician's route and the clearance needed to lift lids or remove parts. A service opening needs an agreed closure and a person responsible for securing it afterwards.
Will terrace netting stop rain during Chennai's monsoon?
Open mesh lets rain pass through. It is not a waterproof canopy, shade roof or cyclone shelter. Keep drainage clear and ask about the net and support specification for your exposed roof; do not attach sheets or banners to the mesh to turn it into a solid roof.
Can you fix directly into a waterproofed terrace?
Fixing locations need to be checked against the roof construction and waterproofing details. We should not assume a thin finish, cracked parapet or waterproofing layer can hold a support. Agree any building repair, suitable structural fixing and sealing work before installation.
Can I keep using clotheslines under the net?
The drying route can remain usable when it is included in the layout. Leave space for loaded lines, sheets and people passing below them. Clotheslines and hanger loads need their own suitable supports rather than being tied to the net border.
Can you cover an apartment's shared terrace?
A shared terrace needs the association or building owner's approval, a clear coverage plan and access arrangements. Tank cleaning, emergency access and other common services must remain usable. A balcony owner's permission alone does not settle the shared roof scope.
Can an old terrace net be patched or reattached?
We assess small tears, detached edges and panels removed for roof maintenance. A patch or reattachment is practical only when the remaining mesh, border and fixing base are suitable. Widespread brittleness, damaged supports or repeated tears may need a replacement panel or system.
How long does terrace installation take?
The duration depends on how many sides need covering, the support work, access and weather. A clear existing frame is a different job from a new roof enclosure. We confirm a working schedule after the measurements and building permissions are settled.
