A resident sees the droppings inside one balcony, but the birds may arrive through a continuous facade band or vertical utility shaft. They can sit one floor above and soil the lower unit without entering it. This is common enough in apartment buildings that the first question should be about route ownership, not net colour.

If the ledge belongs to a common elevation, individual balcony mesh can still protect the private opening, but it may not remove activity from the building surface. The resident and association should know which outcome the quoted job actually provides.

A flat owner may control the inside of the balcony while the association controls exterior drilling, facade appearance and contractor access. A tenant may also need owner consent. Confirm these permissions before the visit, especially when the installer must work outside the railing or enter a service shaft.

For several units, nominate one authorised contact and agree which flats, floors and openings are included. A phrase such as full society netting is too vague unless the elevation, shafts and excluded areas are listed.

A balcony net spans a living-space opening and must respect doors, railing geometry and the view. A window net must preserve shutter movement and cleaning. An AC recess needs future technician access. A duct net may require a continuous perimeter over several storeys and coordination from a common passage or terrace.

The same roll of mesh can appear in more than one application, but the supports, access and handover are different. This is why a per-square-foot rate cannot describe the complete job on its own.

Clear monofilament is often sold as an invisible pigeon net. From normal distance it may interfere less with the view than a coloured product, which can be valuable in a glass-front apartment. It is still a physical line and can show under reflected light, against a dark background or after dust builds up.

Standard HDPE or copolymer products may offer a more economical route for a utility balcony or shaft where appearance matters less. Compare outdoor suitability, mesh opening, tension and perimeter quality before assuming the clearest product is automatically the strongest.

A pigeon-control mesh must prevent pigeons from passing through while allowing useful light and airflow. If sparrows or other small birds also enter a utility shaft, the opening may need to be tighter. A denser mesh can look more visible and collect more dust, so the requirement should be confirmed before installation.

Colour choices such as white, green, black or transparent affect appearance and cleaning expectations. They do not by themselves prove UV treatment, strength or warranty. Ask for the complete specification in the written estimate.

First calculate the measured net area. At an indicative ₹15–₹30 per sq ft, 100 sq ft produces a material-and-installation planning figure of ₹2,000–₹3,000, while 150 sq ft produces ₹3,000–₹4,500. These examples are arithmetic guides, not planned totals.

Then add the job-specific layer: minimum visit value, exterior access, service panels, perimeter framing, old-net removal, restricted work timing or multi-storey shaft requirements. A small high-access window can therefore cost more per square foot than a large, simple balcony reached safely from inside.

For multi-flat work, ask for both the combined measured quantity and a unit-wise breakdown. That allows an association to understand what happens if some residents are not ready on the agreed day.

One estimate may include hooks, rope or cable, labour and access; another may show only the net rate. Align the scope before deciding which price is lower. Material description, measured area, hardware, support, service panel, access, removal, tax and warranty terms should be visible.

If Garware or another brand is named, request the exact product and supporting packaging or invoice description. Availability can change, and a brand name does not explain whether the installer has included the correct perimeter or difficult access.

Bird spikes can help on a narrow external ledge where pigeons only land. Rigid wire mesh can close a small framed vent that does not need frequent access. Neither offers the same kind of full-volume barrier as flexible netting across a balcony or duct face.

An online pigeon net may suit a low, safely reachable and simple opening. High-rise exterior work, glass-railing edges and shared shafts require more than raw mesh. Never lean outside or improvise access because the material price looks inexpensive.

The tenant can document the active perch and daily-use problem. The owner can approve drilling and decide whether the solution should remain after tenancy. The association can clarify facade rules, common-area ownership and contractor access. Sharing these decisions early makes the installation easier to price and schedule.

For move-in work, send photos before furniture and clothes racks fill the balcony. For move-out or repainting, coordinate net removal and refitting so the perimeter is not cut without a plan.

Netting should prevent entry, not enclose birds inside. Before the final edge is sealed, the fitter must check the balcony, AC recess and shaft for a hidden pigeon, active nest or chick. Report nesting activity in advance rather than discovering it after the perimeter has been fixed.

Once the opening is clear, remove accessible food, water and loose nesting material carefully. The physical barrier works right when the space no longer offers an easy feeding or nesting routine.

Show AC technicians and painters where the removable section or refitting line is located. A neat installation is easily damaged when another contractor cuts through it without understanding the perimeter. Keep the installer's scope and completion photos available for later work.

Inspect the edges after facade painting, strong weather or equipment servicing. Look for cut strands, rubbing against a sharp surface, loosened anchors and new gaps. Arrange a proper repair before pigeons relearn the route.

Bird netting is chosen to block pigeons. It should not be treated as proof that the opening can resist the load of a child, adult or pet. A fall-protection requirement needs a separately specified balcony safety net or invisible-grill assessment.

Tell the provider about both needs before measurement. Combining them casually under one safety-net label can create a serious misunderstanding about purpose and performance.
